§ 2-86. Costs for copies of public information.

  • (a)

    In addition to the costs imposed hereunder, the city shall impose a reasonable charge for providing a copy of public information including all costs for materials, labor and overhead for all requests resulting in documents numbering more than fifty (50) pages. For documents numbering fifty (50) pages or fewer, the requestor shall be required to pay only the charge for each page of the paper record that is photocopied, unless the pages to be photocopied are located in:

    (1)

    Two or more separate buildings that are not physically connected with each other; or

    (2)

    A remote storage facility.

    (b)

    If the charge includes the cost for labor, the requestor may require the public information officer or his/her agent to provide a written statement of the amount of time that was required to produce and provide the copy. Charges for providing a copy to the requestor under this article are considered to accrue at the time the city advises the requestor that the copy is available on payment of the applicable charges.

    (c)

    If a request for copies of public information will result in the imposition of a charge under this article that exceeds forty dollars ($40.00), or a request to inspect a paper record that will require the redaction or editing of confidential information will result in the imposition of a charge that exceeds forty dollars ($40.00), the city shall provide the requestor with a written itemized statement that details all estimated charges that will be imposed, including allowable charges for labor and personnel costs.
